we had a "pink or blue" party last month (yes, i've been really lazy about posting this one :P). we really loved the idea of doing this from looking at andrea's blog, thank you andrea!

先月「ピンク　オア　ブルー」パーティーをしました。（かなりサボっていてやっとアップしました、汗） 私の友達のアンドリアがブログで同じようなパーティーをやったのでやろうと決めました。

we actually found out if our second child was boy or girl last month. we went to the doctor and had my doctor write the result down + put the ultrasound picture in a sealed envelope. then we gave the envelope to our friend who was baking cupcakes, so she can put either blue or pink filling inside. she was the only person knew if we are having a boy or girl before anyone else, yes, even us! my doctor's appointment was monday and this party was saturday, it was such a looooong 5 days not knowing when we could've known!

先月、うちの二人目の子供が男の子か女の子かをみんなで知るというパーティーをしました。お医者さんにいって、性別を紙に書いてもらい、超音波の写真と一緒に封筒に入れてもらいました。その結果を私たちは見ないで（すごく見たかったんだけど...）カップケーキを焼いてくれる友達に渡し、その子がカップケーキの中身のクリームの色をブルー(男）がピンク（女）にしてくれるという事です。お医者さんにいったのは月曜日、このパーティーは土曜日、性別の結果を知るまでの５日間は長かった〜　笑

i bought a big bag of cherries for the first time this year! i ate them all in 2 days, now i wish i had some more ;)

今年初めてチェリーを一袋買ってきました。でも二日で完食、もっと買っておけばよかったな！

セールでパイナップルまるごとが１ドル５０セント（安い！）だったから買ってみました。上手く切れるかな〜？

触ったら痛そうな雑草(？)を散歩中に発見。何ていう名前なんだろう〜？

saw a pretty rainbows after the all-day rain. it's very subtle but there were 2 rainbows, you can kinda see it on the outer edge.

朝からずっーと雨、夕方にやんでくれて虹がみれました。見えにくいけど外側にうっすらとした虹がもう一つ。

he is learning how to use the chopsticks with the little "learning chopsticks" thing. he couldn't do it at all 3 months ago but we just pulled them out again few days ago and he can use it! wow, so impressed! he is concentrating so hard, that the other finger is pointing straight out! ;)

2日前にたまたまダニエルが練習用の箸をあげたら使えてしまいました！３ヶ月前は全然できなかったからちょっとビックリ！ 小さい黒豆だってがんばってました。でも真剣だから反対の指がピョーンって伸びちゃってる！笑

he can even say "hashi (chopsticks)" too but sound more like "ahi" like tuna, lol (oh yes, he is so random so he is saying our dog's name in the video too.)

「はし」ともちゃんと言えるけどどっちかというと「あひ」って言っているような...笑　かなりランダムな事をいうのでいきなり犬の名前が会話に出てきます。笑

it's been raining all weekend long and we've been cooped up in the house. so i decided to make peanut butter choc. chip cookies on sunday afternoon.

今週の天気はずぅーと雨！週末もちょっとした買い物以外はどこにもいかず家でのんびり(掃除以外は...笑）と過ごしました。でもあんまりにものんびりすぎたので日曜の午後のおやつにピーナッツバターとチョコチップのクッキーを作りました。

kai's 2nd birthday party is this sunday and i've been getting ready for his party ever since i got back from japan. for this, i just repackaged mints to his dinosaur theme this year.

カイの２歳のバースデーはいよいよこの日曜日。日本から帰ってきて以来、デコレーションを作るのに毎日がんばっています。＾＾；　これは市販のミントをパーティーの恐竜テーマのでパッケージし直しました。

このタッグはゲスト用のお持ち帰り品を結んであげる物です。いれるのはちょっとしたキャンディー、ハーシーキスのチョコと↑のミントを入れようと思っています。

i found cute scrap booking papers in the color schemes so i'm gonna cut them up and make a bunting.　i have few more stuff to make still... hope i can finish them all by sunday!

可愛くて、色もばっちりあったスクラップブック用の紙を発見！これを三角形に切って天井からつるすバナー（旗？）を作る予定。この他にもまだちょっと作らなくてはならない物があるので日曜日までには終わってくれればいいなと思ってます。＾＾また明日からは日本の写真に戻ります...今日はちょっとした気分転換？でした。＾＾；

for the last day in yosemite, we went to see the giant sequoias at mariposa grove. these sequoias were huuuuuge and just amazing!

ヨセミテ最終日はマリポサ　グローブのジャイアント　セコイアを見に行ってきました。名前の通り、すごくデカくてビックリでした。

before the tour, kai was having fun playing the pine cone soccer by himself ;)

ツアーの前は松ぼっくりを見つけて一人で松ぼっくりサッカーをしてました。＾＾

these are the pine cones that you can find at mariposa grove. the long and big sugar pine cones are about 16 inches long!

これがここのマリポサグローブで見つけられる松ぼっくりの種類。いちばん大きいのはシュガーパインのパインコーン、大きさは４０cm前後です。

the clothespin tree, countless fires throughout the decades nearly severed this tree's trunk and created a space in it large enough for a pick-up truck to drive through.

クロスピントリー、何十年というあいだに何回もの山火事で木の幹に穴が開いてしまい、それでも生き続けている木。穴のサイズはトラックや車が簡単に通り抜ける幅です。

the grizzly giant, probably 1900-2400 years old and is the oldest and the largest tree in the grove. it's 210 ft. tall, i mean, look at the size of people at the bottom!

グリズリージャイアント、多分1900〜2400歳で、このグローブの中では一番古く、大きな木。高さは約64m、木の前にいる人がかなり小さく見えます。

those pine cones next to kai's hand is the giant sequoias pine cones. they are just so small compare to what the tree is!

海の手の横にある小さい松ぼっくりがこのジャイアントセコイアの松かさ。木はすごく大きいのに松ぼっくりはかなり小さめでびっくり！

we hiked a bit and kai was exploring as he collects branches!

ちょっとその辺をハイキング、海はかなり探検しながら枝を集めていました。

we saw lots of squirrels and chipmunk, so cute! :)

この辺ではリスとシマリスがいっぱいいました。かわいい〜　＾＾

last stop was to walk around the historic wawona hotel, built in 1865. my parents stayed here 33 years ago when they last came here in yosemite. unfortunately we couldn't make reservations this time to stay :(

最終ストップは歴史的に有名な1865年（江戸時代末期）に建てられたワオナ ホテル。家の両親は前回ヨセミテに来た時（それって３３年前なんですけど...）に泊まりました。今回も予約をとろうとしたけど満室で残念という事でぐるっと一周散歩してきました。

we went to the glacier point at the right time to catch the beautiful sunset. just love how the half dome becomes so pink by the sun!

グレイシャーポイントというビゥーポイントにちょうど夕焼けが良い時間に行ってきました。ハーフドームがみごとにピンクですごく綺麗でした。

we went to see the yosemite falls next (this is the upper fall). it's a bit log post...

次はヨセミテ滝に行ってきました(上部の滝です）。ちょっと今回は長いです。＾＾；

じぃーじとばぁーばと一緒にハイキングコースでの帰り。

the famous el capitan (3000 ft.). rock climbers climb this for like 4 to 5 days straight to get to the top!

ロッククライミングで有名なヨセミテのエル　キャピタン (910 m)。4日から5日かけて頂上まで登るらしいです。

so we looked for climbers and found about 5 people climbing with 400 mm zoom lens.

で、４００ミリのズームレンズで探したところ５人くらい発見！これがそのうちの二人。凄い！空中でキャンプとかするのかなぁ〜？考えただけでもゾッとします。

when we were walking back, the park ranger had the bear skin laying on the bench.　

帰りの途中、パークレンジャーが熊の毛皮をベンチで見せていました。熊の毛はかなり固かったです。

we had a small bbq with both sides of the family. we made lots of kabobs!

家族みんなでのファミリーバーベキュー。シシカボブをたくさん焼きました。

i baked spiced apple bread using the mix from trader joe's.

トレーダージョーズというスーパーで売っていたアップルスパイスのパウンドケーキミックスを使って焼いてみました。シナモンが結構きいていて、しっとりとしあがってGood!

remember? in july, we did this but i said we were missing my parents iphones? well, we got all of our iphones this time ;)

７月に一度 みんなのiphoneの写真をとったけど、私の親のが抜けてましたが今回はちゃんと入ってます！　＾＾

i know it's late but i don't think i really introduced koko before, so here she is! she is quite a trouble maker...loves to annoy deedee all the time, wants to attack the vacuum and swiffer whenever they are on the floor ;)

家のkoko。小さいけれど、かなりのトラブルメーカー！　ディディーにはいつもちょっかいだすし（←本人は遊びたいらしいけど）、掃除機とかモップが出てきたら「ワン！ワン！」とアタック攻撃で終わるまで止まりません。＾＾；

we been eating out for lunch a lot since my mom came 'cuz we are usually shopping ;) today kai got the mini slider kid's meal at cheesecake factory.

最近ばぁーばと一緒にショッピングをしているのでお昼は外で食べてます。今日はチーズケーキファクトリーでキッズメニューのミニハンバーガーを食べました。（キッズメニューでも結構ポーションが大きい...さすがアメリカ！笑）

he loves to dip fries in ranch or ketchup　but he actually licks more than he eats them.

ポテトはもちろんケチャップかランチドレッシングデップしています。でも舐めるだけであんまり食べてません。＾＾；

ハンバーガーに挑戦中！

grass is growing pretty fast! it's amazing and it's nice to see some "green" rather than "brown" in the backyard.

芝生はぐんぐん成長中！庭にやっと緑色が現れてうれしい＾＾　この一年半はずっと土だけのブラウンだったので...

but probably we need to re-seed to fill the gap later　on.
i'm going to go pick up my mom at the sf airport tomorrow morning. it's been a year since my mom actually see kai face to face and hold him :)

だけど多分間の空きがおおいのでまた種を蒔かなければと思ってます。
明日の朝は母を空港に迎えにいってきます。カイを直接見てだっこできるのは一年ぶり。＾＾

i think "terrible two" is clearly coming soon.

２歳の「イヤイヤ期」がすぐそこまで。

edamame is his favorite and i think he can eat this all day long! he can actually say "edamame" too!

枝豆はカイの大好物。これだけはもくもくと自分で食べてくれます。ちゃんと「枝豆」とも言えるんですよ！＾＾

he got waaay too excited for edamame and this is his monster face! lol.

食べている最中にやたらはしゃいじゃって怪獣みたいに「ガオー」って言ってます...
口が開いちゃってすいません... ＾＾；

the grass we planted last weekend in our backyard started to sprout now!

先週末庭に蒔いた芝の種の目がでてきました。

i tried to be healthy and green today ;) so i decided to make some corn muffins that used whole grain corn meal, wheat flour, and soy milk. i topped them with some smart balance spread in a reusable silicon baking cups ;)

今日はちょっとヘルシーなコーンマフィンに挑戦。材料はおもに全粒の穀粉、ウィートフラワー、とソイミルク。焼いた後はヘルシーなマーガリンを少しのせてリユーザブルのシリコンカップで作ってみました。砂糖、オイル（上にのせたマーガリン以外）はなし、味もちょっとヘルシーだったので（←あたりまえか！笑）蜂蜜を少しつけて食べました。

kai has been started to talk a lot more these days and one of the word he likes to say is "bird." he found some pigeons on the neighbor's roof from the upstairs window and saying "birrr" (can't pronounce "d" sound yet).

最近ちょっとずつだけどいろんな事を話しはじめたカイ。その中でもお気に入りの一つの言葉は「バード」。２階の窓からお隣さんの屋根にいる鳩を見つけたようです。でもまだ「d」の発音が難しらしくカイの言い方は「バー」って感じです。＾＾

this is kai trying to do "shhhhhh" but somehow the finger goes on the nose rather than on the mouth. ;)

これはカイの「シーッ！」、何故か指は口の上ではなく鼻の上にいってしまう... ＾＾：

he's been showing an interest towards cameras and he just wants to take pictures all the time! he doesn't quite know how to hold the camera properly...even tho i teach him how, he quickly puts fingers back on lens. lol

カイは最近カメラに興味津々！もうカメラをもって撮ってみたくてしょうがない！だからコンデジを貸してあげました。＾＾カメラの持ち方を教えてあげてもすぐ指がレンズの所にいってしまって...　＾＾；

i just noticed that kai and i are kinda matching today wearing grey stripped shirt!

見ての通り、写真はカイの指だらけでした。（笑）
今見て気づいたら私とカイは今日ふたりでグレーのストライプのトップでお揃いだった！＾＾

＊　まるさん, ninocafeさん、私もやってみました！でもカイもまだまだ、まずカメラの持ち方からの修行が必要みたいです。＾＾

kai LOVES to go through my make-up box and he is constantly trying to get in there. so today, i let him do whatever he wants to do and see what he does! looks like his first step is to curl the eyelashes...

カイはいつも洗面所にあるメイクで遊ぼうとして大変！＾＾；　でも今日は試しになんでも好きな事をやらせてみました。まずはビューラーでまつげカールからみたいです。笑

in the end, he was shocked to see what he looks like in a mirror (or maybe because i was laughing so hard) that he started crying! but it's just so amazing that he knows what to do with each of the make-up! i guess he is really really watching me ;)

あれこれといたずらをやって、最後は自分の顔を鏡の中で見てショックを受けたのか　（それとも私が横でカメラを抱えながらケラケラと笑っていたのがいけないのか）よく分からないけど、大泣きでした！でもよくやる事が分かっているなぁ〜と感心。やっぱり毎日かなり観察されてるー！！！

continuation of our backyard work from last weekend...we put edging down on the grass area (20' x 40') and then opened all the soil bags (that kai was jumping on last weekend) on the ground.

先週の続きの庭の仕事をやりました。最初は芝生のエリア（約６m x 12m)を囲む物を置いて、地面に大きな釘みたいのを打ち込んで固定。その後は先週カイが飛び跳ねて遊んでいた土の袋を地面にあけました。

after raking the soil flat, we tested out the sprinkler system with the sprinkler heads on for the first time. wow, they worked really well!

土を平にした後は、初めてのスプリンクラーのテスト。思った以上に完璧に動いてくれたので、みんなで大満足でした。＾＾なんとなくみんな心の端ではちゃんと動かないとか、何かが変とか思ってたので...笑

after that, ritchard (daniel's dad) put grass seed all over the area. now we just have to water a lot and wait! ;) it was another hot day out (about 95 F) and we were so tired at the end of the day. we are just glad that this backyard project started out to be a "disaster" but turning out to be a "success" :)

それから、芝生の種をリチャード（ダニエルのお父さん）が蒔いてくれました。後は水をたくさんあげて芝が生えてくるのを待つだけ＾＾でも今日もまた暑い日で（３６度位）汗はだらだらで仕事が終わった後はみんな疲れきっちゃいました。＾＾；

my friend trisha came back from the 2 week vacation from europe. she brought me back this awesome lamp shade from venice! she also got me the a hand-made glass bird (on side table) + t-shirt for kai from prague. i love them, thank you trish! =)

友達のトリシャが２週間のヨーロッパバケーションにいってお土産をくれました。その一つがベニスで買ってきてくれた白いランプ。その他にも手作りのターコイズのガラスの鳥（テーブルの上）とカイのT−シャツをプラハから買ってきてくれました。どれもお気に入りです。＾＾

to make this lamp shade was pretty much a puzzle... there were about 50 of these white plastic "cards" and had to put them all together somehow. it took me a day of trial and error ;P it came with the instruction but it was in italian so i had no idea!!!

でもこのランプを作るのはパズル状態！？！？トライしては失敗したりと、つくるのに１日半かかっちゃいました。この白いプラスチックのカードの用な物が５０枚くらい、それを組み合わせて作っていきます。説明書もあったのですがイタリア語だったのでさっぱり分かりませんでした。＾＾；

it's been a while since we really worked on our backyard... now that weather is getting a tiny bit cooler, we are back to putting some work again.

最近は真夏の天気のおかげで庭仕事は保留になっていましたが、気温もちょっびり秋っぽく（？）なってきたのでまた始める事にしました。

we finally put sprinkler heads on and buried them in place and put neon pink strings around the soon to be grass area. kai was busy drinking a huuuuge smoothie and scattering his toys around.

スプリンクラーは先をつけてほかのと平行になるように計りながらグラウンドに埋め、蛍光のピンクの糸で芝生のエリアを囲いました。カイはいつものようにおもちゃを散らかすのに一生懸命...と 大きなフルーツスムージーを飲むのに忙しかったみたい。

after few trips to a local diy store, we managed to bring home 60 bags of soil with some help of our family members and 3 cars, we unload them to the future grass area. i think kai was trying to carry and help too ;)

芝生の種のベースになる肥料が入った土を買わなくてはいけなかったので、DIYストアに車三台、ダニエルのお父さんとおじさんと私たちで行って６０袋買ってきました。＾＾；　さすがにこれはちょっと大変でしたー。一応カイも土の袋の運びを手伝っているつもりらしい...

after when we put down bags of soil on the ground, kai was having a blast jumping on them :D so the next weekend, we are actually putting the soil and grass seeds down. stay tuned!

車から全部土を運びだしてとりあえずは芝生エリアに置いて、今日はここでおしまいでした。やっぱり力仕事は疲れる... 来週は土と芝生の種を蒔くというのが目標です。カイは袋の上を楽しそうにピョンピョンとジャンプしながら遊んでいました。こういうの好きなんだね〜　＾＾

he has been climbing all over the house like a out of control monkey! dining room table, computer table, bathroom sink, his high chair, you name it! so of course he loves to climb and ride his elephant too :)

最近カイはもうワイルドモンキー状態で家中どこでも登っちゃいます。ダイニングのテーブルはもちろん毎日の事、オフィスのテーブル、洗面所、ハイチェアーなど...大変です。　(*´Д｀)=3ハァ･･･ だからもちろんこのゾウさんに乗って遊ぶのも大好きです。

it's deedee's birthday today and she turned 5! she is officially older than me now in dog year ;)

今日はディディーの５歳のバースデー。犬の年でいくと私よりも年上になりました。（笑）

for her b-day present we got her haircut and a red dingo dog tag that came just in time in a mail today! (oh yes, got koko one too)

バースデープレゼントにはヘアカットとこのレッド　ディンゴというメーカーのドッグ　タグを買ってあげました。普通のドッグ　タグよりも厚くて、頑丈に出来ていて、もちろんデザインや色の種類も豊富でかわいいかったので ＾＾ついでにココのも買ってあげちゃいました。＾＾

even tho it's her birthday, she is just being lazy and snoring away. LOL.

バースデーでもいつもの通り、こうしてゴロゴロと寝ているディディーです。＾＾

toys out, kai in... i just cleaned up all the toys and this is 2 seconds later :P here we go again!

i bought this apple slicer from ikea a while back but i finally started using it the other day. it's so cool! i don't know why i didn't use it sooner! it definitely worth $2.99 price tag :)

このアップルスライサーはかなり前にイケアで買ったんだけど引き出しに入れっぱなし...先週リンゴを買ったので使いはじめてみました。さすが、名前のとおりリンゴは一瞬でスライス！もっと前から使えば良かった！2ドル９９セントの価値かなり有り＾＾

meet lexi. she is a 12 weeks old blue nose pit bull puppy that trisha + greg got this weekend. so we had to go meet her for the first time and play with her :)

先週末に友達のトリシャとグレッグが４ヶ月のアメリカンピットブルテリアーの犬を買ったので、会いに行ってきました。

she is gonna be a big puppy, maybe about 100 lbs when she is full grown.

どうやら成犬になると体重が４５kgぐらいになるみたいでおまけにちょっと顔つきも怖っぽい...かなりのガードドッグになりそうです。

they are buddies instantly!

すぐ二人は仲良く遊んでいました。にらめっこ中　＾＾

i like how kai thinks he is "training" lexi to do "down." i guess he watches me do that to our dogs :D

カイがレキシーに「ダウン」を教えているつもり！あの指がなんともいえずに笑えちゃう！＾＾
どうやら私が家で犬にそうやっているのを見ているようです。かなり観察されているみたい...

found a small white flower.

小さい白い花。

小さな花は結構長く持ち歩いていました。

found a random stick that was poking out of the ground.

地面から出ている棒を発見！

その後は木からとった葉っぱ。

at the end, he sat down and watched some birds flying around. it was nice but turned out to be a very long walk :P

最後は座りながら周りにいた鳥などを見ていました。カイの探検のおかげでこの日はかなり長い散歩になっちゃいました。

いつもこんな感じで散歩しています。カイはどこでも走りまくり、カイを一生懸命追いかけようとする犬たち...いつもひっぱられてばっかりで大変です。＾＾；

「ジャンプして！」と言ってみたら本当にしてくれました。ちょっとビックリ！　でもその瞬間が撮れてラッキー。（＾＾）V

finally daniel's late b-day present arrived in the mailbox.

ダニエルの誕生日プレゼントがやっと郵便で来ました。

it wasn't a surprise 'cuz he found it first and he's been wanting a new wallet anyways. so i just go ahead and ordered Nooka AO. i love their watches and have been wanting one for few years now. i guess i'm just scared of getting used to a new way of looking at watch? but i like this one or this one.

nothing fancy, made out of durable, water resistant, silicone and has 3 pockets. i really like the nooka logo pattern on the flap, nice touch! :)

he's becoming a "big boy" these days and been wanting to do everything by himself lately. one of the biggest thing he really wants to do is feeding himself. he refused to be fed this morning by one of us so we decided to let him do his own thing with the vanilla yogurt. he is doing "thumbs up," guess he approves :)

最近なんでも自分でやりたがっているカイ。その中でも一番やりたがるのが自分で食べる事。今朝、ダニエルがスプーンでヨーグルトをあげようとしても「ノー！　ノー！」と首を横にふって全然食べません。しょうがないのでバニラヨーグルトを自分で食べさせてみました。たまたま左指「サムズ　アップ」をしているのでおいしいのかな？＾＾

actually he is really good at feeding himself but what a mess!!! i think half of the yogurt went into the bib and the face rather than his mouth :P

最近やっぱりだんだん自分で食べる事が上手になってきています...が半分以上はよだれかけの中と顔についていたと思います。もう白いヒゲのおじさん状態です。＾＾；

cleaning him up after the breakfast was such a chore! the yogurt went everywhere!

おーい！食べてる時にどこみてる！？！　食べ終わった時のクリーンアップはちょっと大変でした。もうヨーグルトがいろんなところにべちゃべちゃ！ ＾＾；

i happened to have my camera in the car on the way back home from errands. i got lucky and took some beautiful sunset pictures from the freeway.

たまたま買い物の帰りにカメラを持っていたので帰宅途中に夕焼けの写真をとりました。これは裏道のハイウェイからとった綺麗な色の景色...今日はラッキーな時間帯に帰りました。＾＾

このブルー、グレーと黄色の組み合わせがすごく好き！　カイの２歳のバースデーパーティの色のテーマはこれでいこうと思っています。（この色の恐竜テーマかな？）

we have tons of windmills on the hills around the house to make electricity. they are prettier to look at during the sunset rather than during the day for sure!

家の周りにある丘には風力発電のための風車がすごーくたくさんあります。もちろん、夕焼けのなかでの風車のほうか昼間にみる風車よりもずっと綺麗です。

somebody left (or threw away) this old boat in the field in our neighborhood! it was very random and really happened over night. who would do such a thing! but i noticed today that it was gone so i think the city or sheriff took care of it. thank you!

誰かが近所のフィールドに古いボートを今週の始めに置いて（捨てて）いきました。いきなりボートが
捨ててあったので、はっきり言って見てびっくり！誰がこんな事するんだろうね〜とダニエルと話したりしていたら今朝なくなっていました。どうやら近所の人たちがいっぱいクレームをだしたので、市か警察の人達が方付けてくれたみたいです。

日曜日のお昼ね時間。

spotted this dragon fly in the garage, what pretty colors... terquioise and chocolate brown (like our wedding color scheme). i haven't seen this big of a dragon fly in a while and makes me really think that fall is coming soon (even tho it's super hot outside, 104 F!!!).

ガレ–ジのフロアでトンボを発見！　ターコイズとチョコレートブラウンの色がすごくキレー！（ちなにもこの組み合わせはウェディングのカラーコンビネーションでした＾＾）　普通のこの辺でよく飛んでいるトンボより、かなりサイズが大きいです。トンボを見ると秋がもうすぐそこなんだと思うけど、この熱さでは（今日は４０度）全然秋という感じがしません。ーー；　それにしても今日はあつー！

yesterday was daniel's birthday. i worked in the afternoon so when i got home i made some heath bar cookies. this is the special heart shape cookie for his b-day ;)

p.s. we just went out for dinner for his birthday since it was during the week.

昨日はダニエルのバースデーでした。午後はパートで働きにいったので帰ってきてからヒースバーのトフィークッキーを作りました。これはダニエル用のスペシャル♥型バースデークッキーです。(^^*)

P.S. 火曜日だったので特にこれっといった事はしないで夜はバースデーご飯を食べに行ってきました。

i let him ride on the "riding toy machine" that takes coins or tokens for the first time. he LOVED it and wouldn't want to get off at all! he made a quite a big crying scene there when he had to get off... i just created a monster :P

昨日、はじめて子供用の宇宙船に乗せてあげたら、予想以上にすごーく気にいってしまわれて... はっきり言っておろすのに大変でした。ギャーギャー泣かれて、「もっと、もっと」と言われて...　どうやら新しいモンスターを作ってしまったみたいです。ヤバー　＾＾；　

this is his new way of eating the strawberries... the wild west showdown, kai vs. strawberries! ；）

最近、なぜかイチゴをこうやって食べてます。西部劇みたいに鉄砲をもっているようにみえるので、名付けて、ワイルド　ウェスト　ショーダウン、カイ　vs. イチゴ！　(*^▽^*)

kai always plays with daniel's hat so i finally bought him one in his size a little while ago. he tries to wear it every time daniel's wears the hat but he usually takes it off after few seconds. or he "hides" like this...

カイはいつもダニエルの帽子をかぶりたがるのでこの前子供用の帽子を買ってあげました。ダニエルが帽子をかぶる時はまねをして自分の帽子をかぶるのですが、すぐ脱いでしまいます。それともなければ...

こうして帽子のツバをグゥーと前にして顔を隠したりしています。＾＾

we did a little project on the placement of the dining lamp a few weeks ago (yes, i was lazy to take pictures of it until now). i wasn't happy with how the lamp wasn't hanging in the "center" of the dining table (see the metal plate on the ceiling? way off center, right?). i mean, that lamp was in the "center" within the space (like in the ceiling space) but someone didn't consider centering within the actual usable space. behind kai's high chair is "walk way" so if we put the table as is, it'll be in our way to walk by. you might've noticed, we temporary don't have a rug in the dining room until kai stop throwing food all over the floor! i dunno when that would be...*sigh*

anyway, we had to replace the lamp cord to make it longer so that it "hooks" to the side and still have right length when it hangs (let me tell you, finding the right cord took forever!). we originally just used a regular silver hook, nothing fancy but when we looked at it, that exposed hook made it look very unfinished and cheap in a way. so when i was flipping thru dwell magazine i saw this picture and totally got inspired to cover it up somehow.

after many phone calls try to find something like that and trips to diy stores. we quickly realized that no one carries stuff like that and had think about alternatives...something light weight, easy to drill to make holes, and big enough to cover the hook. then the idea came to my mind...white pvc pipe end cap (i would never thought about it if we didn't do yard work)! tada~! we only paid 60 cents and worked our perfectly and looks finished and almost meant to be ;)

この間の週末にダイニングランプの位置を移動するというプロジェクトをやりました。どうみても、ダイニングのテーブルを自分の使いやすい位置に置くとランプが全然まん中ではないので、前からちょっと嫌だな〜と気になっていました。＾＾；　天井にある丸いステンレスからランプがさがっていたのですが、ぜんぜんまん中じゃないの分かりますか？こういうのかなり気になるんですよね〜。笑　天井のスペースでみるとランプの位置はまん中なのですが、テーブルを置きたい位置に置くとずれてしまうんです。ちょうどカイの椅子の後ろは通路になっているので前のままでランプをおくと横を通る時にかなりの邪魔！

という事でまずは新しい白いコードを買って、ランプを少し分解してコードの長さを変えなければいけません。じゃないと、横にフックでかけた時にランプが上にいってしまいすぎて、見かけが悪い事。でも、この単純な白いコードを探すのに少し苦労。＾＾；その後無事にコードをかえて、普通のシルバーのフックを天井からつけて出来上がり...でもそのシルバーのフックだけを見た時には全然良くない！なんか中途半端で仕上がってない感じ。どうしようか〜とダニエルと相談しながらdwellというモダーンホームの雑誌を見ていた時この写真を発見！こういう風にフックをカバーしちゃえばいいんだ！という事になりました。

こういう物を探すのにいろんなランプ屋さん、電気屋さんに電話したけど、みつからず、ホームインプルーブメントストアなどにもいったけど、やっぱりダメ。どうしようか、ということで、とりあえず何かで自分でつくればいいんだと、軽くて、穴が開けやすくて、フックが隠れるくらいの大きさの物。思いついたのは白い排水パイプのキャップ、そう、さんざん庭のスプリンクラーで使っている材料です。このキャップ１個６０セントで綺麗に仕上がりました。やったー！

bought some cantaloupes today at the grocery store 'cuz it was on sale for 77 cents each!

キャンタロープがスーパーで１個７７セントというセールをやっていたので買ってきました。かなりお買い得でした。　＾＾

i cut them up, put them in the fridge and gonna eat them for snack with kai after his nap :)

カットした後は冷蔵庫で冷やして、カイがお昼ねから起きたらおやつとして一緒に食べる予定です。＾＾

woke up from his nap time! it was hot enough that i let him sleep nake-y today ;)

お昼ねから起きたカイ。今日は少し暑かったのでオムツ一枚で昼寝させてみました。

think he is still a little dozed here...

still likes to brush teeth everyday, actually he gets excited about it, such an interesting child!

相変わらず毎日歯を磨くのが好きなカイ。はしゃいで自分から洗面所にいってくれます。そんなに面白いかなぁ〜？

remember? i told you about how daniel is on computer first thing in the morning and last thing at night? well now you know, this is it ;)

毎日朝起きて一番最初にする事はコンピューター、夜一番最後にやる事もコンピューターです。
いつもなにかiPhoneの事をやっているみたいで（ハックしたのでアイコンやインターフェイスのデザインをかえています）いつも飽きずに、かなりのオタッキーです... ＾＾；
