walking around the neighborhood, it's been a nice, mild summer. but i guess it's gonna be the hottest day so far and gonna be 108 F. not looking forward to that :P

週末にコミュニィティープールにも行ってきました。

it was another hot day so when we first got there, there were tons of people as we expected!

またこの日も天気がよく暑かったのでプールはちょっと混んでいました。でも楽しく遊んだみたいで良かったです。＾＾

kotori family came to visit us in california!

ことりさんファミリーがカリフォルニアまで遊びに来てくれました！

we went to the neighborhood park that day. i thought it was a nice long visit but actually time went by so quickly and it was time to say good-bye already. it was really "time flies when you are having fun" and wish it was longer! i still have lots of pictures to go through so i'll be posting here and there.

この日は近所の公園に夕方遊びに行ってきました。長いと思っていた２週間半はアッという間に過ぎ去ってしまっていつの間にかバイバイをする日に...　楽しい時間を過ごしている時は時間が立つのが早いってこの事をいうんだなぁ〜と改めて実感しました。思い出たっぷりの写真は少しづつ整理しながら更新していくのでよろしくお願いしま〜す。＾＾

he loves woody + buzz from the movie toy story.

カイはバズ　ライトイヤーとウッディーの大ファン。

he can't wait to see the toy story 3 this month in the theater!　but i would have never imagined that when i first watched toy story back in '95, 16 years later, my own child would be watching toy story 3?!?!

今月トイ　ストーリー３が映画館にでるので最近トイ　ストーリーのおもちゃなどをお店でみたりコマーシャルでみたりするようになりました。きっと見るの楽しみにしているかな？　でもまさか９５年にでたトイ　ストーリーを見たときは１６年後に自分の子供が「３」を見るなんて考えてもいなかったな〜　笑

he insisted on taking pictures of woody...actually said "picture woody!" so i let him hold the camera and he took few shots ;) this one was the best one out of all, most of them were blurry.

写真を撮った後、カイが「picture woody!」と何回も言うから重たいカメラをがんばってもって数枚撮らせてあげました。これが一番ましだった一枚、でもほとんどはもちろんピンぼけでした。＾＾

we went to the easter egg hunt in the neighborhood.

近所のイースターエッグハントに行ってきました。

he got to hunt lots of eggs and of course, enjoyed the candies inside ;)

「エッグハント」と言うよりも「エッグ拾い」って感じです。＾＾；たまごの中にはチョコや飴などのお菓子が入っていてカイは喜んで食べてました。笑

kai likes to "bbq" like we do too.

カイもバーベキューするのが大好き。

he cuts veggies and meat before grilling. ;)

ちゃんと野菜やお肉をカットしてからグリルで焼いてました。＾＾

we did some yard work on the weekend and we let kai play with bubbles for the first time.

週末はまた庭仕事、でもカイは初めてシャボン玉で遊びました。

we used the bubble generator toy so there were tons of bubbles!

シャボン玉マシーンみたいのを使ったので庭中いっぱい！

i guess the reflection of the sun on the bubbles made the pinky colored shine. it almost look like i photoshoped but i didn't!

太陽の光がシャボン玉にあたっておもしろい感じの一枚が出てきました。なんかフォトショップでいじったみたい（だけどしてません）＾＾

he's been riding his trike like a pro now ;) these last few weeks, he really 'got it' and has been going fast and pedals endlessly all over the place.

最近いきなり三輪車の乗るのがプロになりました！この２週間くらいで、ずっーとペダルも上手にこげて、どんどん遠いところまで乗ってしまいます。

when the weather was nice, we went to the park with friends.

天気が良かった日にお友達と公園で遊んできました。

three of them got along well and had fun playing with each other.

3人みんなで仲良く遊んでくれました。＾＾

kai was checking out all the airplanes in the sky while he was on a swing for the longest time!

カイはブランコに乗りながら次々と飛んでくる飛行機を見つけてはじっくりと見ていました。息子君と娘さん、一緒にカイと遊んでくれてありがとう！また今度もよろしくね！＾＾

he loves mandarines and now he wants to peel them by himself.

やっぱり「みんみ」が大好き！ちゃんと自分でむいて食べてます。＾＾

bought 2 boxes of "cuties" on sale and he eats them everyday!

「キューティーズ」という名前のカリフォルニアみかんをセールで一箱$2.99（いつもは$9.99)でお買い得だったので二箱買っちゃいました！毎日食べてます。＾＾

we have been so bad about taking care of our backyard and now it's full of weeds! but he is having fun with playing soccer...

庭は雑草ですごい事になっちゃってますが、カイはサッカーをして楽しんでいます。私たちは毎週草むしり中　＾＾；

we went on a walk around the neighborhood few days ago. now kai is in charge of koko and i'm in charge of dede + camera. doesn't it look like he's about to cause trouble? ;)

この間、近所を散歩してきました。どうやらカイはkoko係で私がdeedeeとカメラ係。＾＾ カイは一体何を企んでいるのやら、ちょっとあやしい表情。笑

i think koko was not too happy about getting dragged by kai every where. koko probably wanted to have a peaceful walk. poor koko...

ココはカイにあっちこっち引っ張られてかなりのありがた迷惑状態。＾＾；きっと穏やかな散歩に行きたかったんだと思うけど、ちょっと可哀想だったかな。

he is learning how to use the chopsticks with the little "learning chopsticks" thing. he couldn't do it at all 3 months ago but we just pulled them out again few days ago and he can use it! wow, so impressed! he is concentrating so hard, that the other finger is pointing straight out! ;)

2日前にたまたまダニエルが練習用の箸をあげたら使えてしまいました！３ヶ月前は全然できなかったからちょっとビックリ！ 小さい黒豆だってがんばってました。でも真剣だから反対の指がピョーンって伸びちゃってる！笑

「はし」ともちゃんと言えるけどどっちかというと「あひ」って言っているような...笑　かなりランダムな事をいうのでいきなり犬の名前が会話に出てきます。笑

we went to tokyo to do some shopping and stuff and it was kai's first time! this is the real old steam train near the shinbashi train station. looks like kai is being the guide ;)

東京にちょっと用事と買い物があったので行ってきました。ちなみにカイは東京初めて！これは山の手線新橋駅のそばにある昔のSLトレイン。なんだかカイがガイドさんやってるみたい。笑

we ate the very best tonkatsu (deep fried pork) for lunch near the shinbashi train station.

新橋駅の近くにあるすごくおいしいトンカツ屋さんでお昼。また食べたい！＾＾

my very long time friend (i've know her since pre-school) came over with her family to hang out while we were in japan. her daughter is about a bit over 1 year old and she is such a doll! every time we see each other, we say how amazing to see our own kids play together like once we were! (it probably means we are getting old...ha ha) thanks for coming over guys! hope we can do this again when we go back next time :)

私の保育園からの幼なじみの友達が家に遊びにきてくれました。娘ちゃんは1歳２ヶ月でお人形さんみたいに可愛いらしい子♥　毎回、会う度に言ってしまうけど自分達の子供が一緒に遊んでいるのってなんか信じられないねー！って。（っていうか、年をとったんだね、笑）これからもずっと仲良くしてね！わざわざ遊びに来てくれてありがとう！また遊ぼうね！＾＾

first, we made a snow man...

最初はスノーマンを作ったけど...

but he wasn't very thrilled.

なんかちょっと物足りなそうな表情。

so i made him a snow bunny!

だからスノーバニーを作ってあげました。

but still, he wasn't very happy about it!

だけど、なに、その嬉しくなさそうな顔は！？！？

then, tada-! i made him his favorite totoro!

じゃじゃーん、大好きなトトロを作ってあげました！

i think this time, he was happy ;) (or i'm tired so can't make it anymore anyways!) actually, he saw snow bunny's ears and said "totoro!" so that's where i got the idea to make him a totoro! i would never thought of making one if he didn't say anything, i guess kid's imagination is endless!

これで満足だったみたい！（っていうか、もう疲れたからこれ以上作れない〜　笑）実はカイがスノーバニーの耳をみて「トトロ！」っていったから「あっ、なるほど！作れる！」と思ってトトロを作りました。子供の想像力はすごいな〜　私だったら思いつかなかった！笑

we made s'mores for snack with the fire place after playing in the snow.

ゲレンデから帰ってきた後はおやつにスモアー（マシュマロ、板チョコ、グラハムクラッカー）を作りました。

he loved it but got marshmallow all over the mouth ;P

kai tried sledding with me few times but he cried and wasn't ok with it. he just wanted to watch people slide :P

カイは１、２回一緒にそりで滑ったけど泣いたりでダメ。見てるだけの方が良かったみたい。＾＾；

he tried sledding also but he was having more fun eating the snow!

ことりさんの息子君もそりしたけど雪を食べる方が好きだったみたい。＾＾

when we got home, she taught kai how to ride the scooter.

ゲレンデから帰ってきたら娘さんがお気に入りのスクーターをカイにどうやるか教えてくれました。

she is just so cute!

yes, we are back in california again. we are both jet lagged (kai woke up at 3 am!) but we got home safe.

カリフォルニアに帰ってきました。時差ぼけがかなりあるけど（カイは夜中の３時に起きちゃったし！）無事に家につきました！

kai did mostly okay in the 8.5 hr plane ride. i just tried to keep him busy by watching movies, play with iphone, coloring, and take pictures. these are some of the pictures (like out of a hundred!) that he took. most of them were blurry but some came out okay. i'll be back on blogging rest of japan trip from tomorrow.

今回の帰りの８時間半の飛行機もまぁなんとかいい子でいました。＾＾；とにかくいろいろやらせてればいいやと思って、映画、 iphone、ぬりえ、コンデジで写真撮らせたり... で、これはカイが１００枚くらい撮った写真のなかからの数枚、もちろんほとんどはすごい手ぶれだけど何枚かまともなのがありました。＾＾；明日からは続きの日本でのブログに戻りま〜す。

hello, geeky professor kai ;) it was right after dinner so his mouth is still dirty!

名付けて、カイ博士。笑　夕飯の後すぐだったから口のまわりがまだ汚いぞ...　＾＾；

i just wanted to play with him and do his hair like he was a girl (i know it's a little mean...). of course, he hated it and he wanted to take if off badly.

カイの髪の毛をちょっといたずらで女の子みたいに（カイ子ちゃん？笑）しばってみました。もちろん、嫌がって「オフ！オフ！」って言ってとっちゃいました。

this is the few seconds he didn't realize what i did to him. definitely not very happy about it ;)

髪の毛をしばったすぐ後、何がどうなったのかきずかなかった数秒の時の顔。笑

kai loves to check out outside from the window. he usually tells me if if there's any cars or not ;)

カイは窓から外を見るのが好き、だいたいいつも「カー」って言って車が有るか、無いかを教えてくれます。＾＾；

"no! no! no! don't touch the lens!!!" it was out of nowhere finger print attack! i guess i really should use 85mm instead of 30mm around him now, i learned my lesson again. ;)

「no! no! no! レンズ触っちゃダメ〜！！！」いきなりの指紋攻撃でした。＾＾；30mmじゃなくてやっぱり85mmを使わなくちゃ最近は油断のすきもないと言う事をあらためて実感しました。笑

「いない　いない　ばぁー」もやったりします。でも最近は大きくなりすぎて箱の中には隠れられないのですがね！多分、予想つくと思いますがことあと箱に入ったまま後ろに倒れて泣きました。＾＾；

kai's #1 favorite food is salmon flakes + rice lately.

カイの大好物はシャケフレークとご飯です。簡単な物が好きで助かってます。＾＾；

when he can't scoop the rice with spoon, he uses his fingers to pick them all up.

最後の方スプーンでご飯粒を上手くすくえなくなったら指で最後まで全部食べます。

when he is done, he says "bye bye rice!" he completed two bowls of salmon + rice this morning!

全部食べ終わったら「バイバイ　ライス！」っていいます。最近すごい食べっぷりで2杯食べました！

he LOVES to play with the cars and like to put them in a straight line (very intersting isn't it?). he loves to watch the movie "cars" and of course, that's his favorite movie too!

カイはミニカーで遊ぶのが大好き！なぜが窓の横でストレートの線に並べるのが特に大好き。もちろんカーズの映画が今一番のお気に入りで真剣に見ちゃいます。＾＾

looks all good and done! but usually he drops them all on the floor and repeat this activity for hours!

よし！終わった〜　★＾＾でもこの後ぐちゃぐちゃにして全部フロアに落としてまた一人でやり直しています。よく飽きないで何回もやってます。＾＾；

we had a xmas gathering at our house with daniel's family. we exchanged presents, watched a movie, and ate dinner together. here is kai "resting" with one of grandma monica's dog, chloe after opening tons of presents!

クリスマスの日は家でダニエルのファミリーとプレゼント交換、映画、ゲーム、ディナーを食べたりしました。カイは自分のプレゼントを全部あけて遊び疲れたらしく、クローイ（ダニエルのお母さんの犬）と一緒にお昼ね中。笑

seems like every time he opened his presents, he was taking a picture of them! lol

カイは一つ一つプレゼントを開ける度、自分のカメラでおもちゃの写真を撮っていました。笑

プレゼントの一つはおもちゃのキャラクターの眼鏡と帽子、眼鏡が大き過ぎて笑っちゃいました。

kai was actually trying to put them on dede, so we helped him with it ;)

カイは眼鏡をディディーに掛けさせ用としていたので手伝って上げてみました。笑

he picked daikon radish for the first time in the veggie field. :)

picked about 100 of them...so we washed, dried, and pickled them so they last longer.

１００本位収穫。サラダで食べたりしましたがあり過ぎなので洗って、干して、たくわんにしちゃいます。

we got tons of tangerines! there were just way to many and almost discouraging to keep picking ;)

kai had his second birthday on sunday! i wanted to do his "birthday photo shoot" but it was too early for him (right after he got up) so it didn't go so well :P he still looks a bit sleepy, doesn't he?

カイの２歳のバースデイバーティを日曜日にやりました！バースディフォトシュートをしようとしたけど、朝一番だったのであんまりうまく行きませんでした。＾＾；

毎日よく見る光景、ダニエルとiphoneでカイが一緒に座ってます。＾＾

kai's 2nd birthday party is this sunday and i've been getting ready for his party ever since i got back from japan. for this, i just repackaged mints to his dinosaur theme this year.

カイの２歳のバースデーはいよいよこの日曜日。日本から帰ってきて以来、デコレーションを作るのに毎日がんばっています。＾＾；　これは市販のミントをパーティーの恐竜テーマのでパッケージし直しました。

このタッグはゲスト用のお持ち帰り品を結んであげる物です。いれるのはちょっとしたキャンディー、ハーシーキスのチョコと↑のミントを入れようと思っています。

cupcake toppers... i decided to do double sided this time, so i had to glue like 60 of these things ;P

カップケーキの上に乗せるトッパー。今回は初めて両面のを作ったので今日は６０個ぐらい糊で貼付けました。（多分そんなに要らないとは思うけど...)

i found cute scrap booking papers in the color schemes so i'm gonna cut them up and make a bunting.　i have few more stuff to make still... hope i can finish them all by sunday!

可愛くて、色もばっちりあったスクラップブック用の紙を発見！これを三角形に切って天井からつるすバナー（旗？）を作る予定。この他にもまだちょっと作らなくてはならない物があるので日曜日までには終わってくれればいいなと思ってます。＾＾また明日からは日本の写真に戻ります...今日はちょっとした気分転換？でした。＾＾；

ノーファインダーで何枚か撮ってみました。マパさんの素敵なのノーファインダーショットを見てちょっとトライしたくなったのでやってみました。＾＾

it is actually fun to see what kind of pictures you get when you look at them on the view finder. of course, i had lots of blurry ones and his face all cut off too ;)

やっぱりシャッターを押してからどんな写真が撮れていたかな？というドキドキ感があったけど、ピントがあわずにボケボケのとか顔がフレームから切れているやつもたくさんありました。＾＾；　まあそれもそれなりに面白くていいのかな？

he loves japanese tangerines (mikan) and he was able to peel and eat by himself by the end, amazing!

we are back home in california now! kai is still jetlag-y and his sleeping schedule is messed up! this week is pretty busy, i have to get back to my normal life stuff and i have to get ready for kai's b-day party on sunday. so i might not have as much post this week, sorry! but i'm trying to organize all the pictures from japan and slowly upload them this week.

カイは日本に来てからみかんが大好き！最初は自分ではむいて食べれなったけど、帰る前には一人で食べれるようになりました。

カリフォルニアに帰ってきました！カイはまだ時差ボケでまだ寝る時間がちょっと変です。＾＾；　帰ってきた当日はダニエルの会社のクリスマスパーティ、日曜日はスーツケースの片付け、に大掃除（一ヶ月半の私とカイが作っていない汚れを全部掃除しました。笑）。今週もいつもやる事プラス、カイのバースデーバーティーが日曜日にあるのでその準備でかなり忙しくなっちゃいそうです。なので今週ブログの更新はぼちぼち、みなさんの所にもあんまり訪問できないと思います。すいません！＾＾；　でもまだ日本で撮った写真がたくさんあるので、それをちょっと整理しながらアップしていこうと思います。

on the way home from the aquarium, we walked by a newly re-built shrine so we stopped by to check it out.

科学館の帰りに９月に出来上がった立派な近所の神社をちょっと探検してきました。

it used to be a very small ran down shrine so i was just amazed by how big and nice it became!

前に見た時はちょつと寂しげな古い神社だったのでこんなに変わってびっくり！

i was just impressed by the wood work and this shrine was built in a very traditional way so they didn't use any nails at all!

この彫刻の細かさが凄かったので思わず写真を撮ってしまいました。神社も仕口工法でできているし、かなりすごいなぁ〜！

途中でちょっと雨が降り出したから急いで帰りました。

actually we walked to a neighborhood aquarium by our house (there were a little festival going on) and watched peach colored pelicans walk around!

家のそばに小さな科学館があってそこで桃色ペリカンさんがお散歩にくる（どうやらこの日は特別に八景島シーパラダイスからきたみたいです＾＾）っというので見に行ってきました。

there were lots of bright red crawfish too!

真っ赤なアメリカンザリガニもたくさんいました。海は怖かったみたいです。＾＾；

since it's been getting cold, i got him a new stripped + panda bear (kinda hidden by his fingers) hat the other day. so i had to made him try it on! ;)

最近寒くなってきたのでストライプとパンダの毛糸の帽子をかってあげました。さっそく被せてみました。＾＾

belle + kai in the little hut again in the veggie field. the hut has been weathered + now crooked from the typhoon etc. but they can still sit in it ;) probably kai's gonna be too heavy to sit in there next year.

ベルと海が畑の「ベル小屋」にまた一緒に座ってくれました。ベル小屋は去年と比べるとちょっと曲がったりしているけど、なんとか座れました。でも来年は無理かも... ＾＾；

we went on a very short walk in front of the second house. leaves are turning colors and pretty.

セカウンドハウスの前のあたりをちょっと散歩しました。紅葉がきれいです。

he found a branch on a ground and playing with it for a while.

枝を見つけて落ち葉の中にしゃがみながら遊んでしました。

kai loves to push his toy cart or car around but obviously we didn't bring that, so grandpa brought out this huge rubbermaid cart that he uses for the yard work. he is very content pushing this around the backyard and think we'll put him to work next time ;)

海はおもちゃのカートで押して遊ぶのが大好き。でももちろんそれは日本には持ってこられなかったから、じぃーじが庭作業用のカートを出してきてくれました。もう海は大喜びで一人で庭で押し回ってます。今度はちゃんと中身もいれて仕事させちゃう予定です。＾＾

kai was a superman for halloween but i don't think he knows who "superman" is... ;) it's actually a pj but used it as costume also for the trip and worked out pretty well!

今年のハロウィーンはスーパーマンに変身しました。＾＾でも本人はスーパーマンが誰なのか全然分かってないです。笑　実はこれパジャマなんですけど、コスチュームとしてダブルで使っちゃいました。

just love how it comes with a cape that he can sleep with :)

ちゃんと付けながら寝られるマント付きで可愛かったです。

since he was a superman, he was helping people by pushing the car! ha ha.

スーパーマンだったので、困っている人の車を押してあげてます。笑

we been eating out for lunch a lot since my mom came 'cuz we are usually shopping ;) today kai got the mini slider kid's meal at cheesecake factory.

最近ばぁーばと一緒にショッピングをしているのでお昼は外で食べてます。今日はチーズケーキファクトリーでキッズメニューのミニハンバーガーを食べました。（キッズメニューでも結構ポーションが大きい...さすがアメリカ！笑）

he loves to dip fries in ranch or ketchup　but he actually licks more than he eats them.

ポテトはもちろんケチャップかランチドレッシングデップしています。でも舐めるだけであんまり食べてません。＾＾；

２歳の「イヤイヤ期」がすぐそこまで。

edamame is his favorite and i think he can eat this all day long! he can actually say "edamame" too!

枝豆はカイの大好物。これだけはもくもくと自分で食べてくれます。ちゃんと「枝豆」とも言えるんですよ！＾＾

he got waaay too excited for edamame and this is his monster face! lol.

食べている最中にやたらはしゃいじゃって怪獣みたいに「ガオー」って言ってます...
口が開いちゃってすいません... ＾＾；

kai has been started to talk a lot more these days and one of the word he likes to say is "bird." he found some pigeons on the neighbor's roof from the upstairs window and saying "birrr" (can't pronounce "d" sound yet).

最近ちょっとずつだけどいろんな事を話しはじめたカイ。その中でもお気に入りの一つの言葉は「バード」。２階の窓からお隣さんの屋根にいる鳩を見つけたようです。でもまだ「d」の発音が難しらしくカイの言い方は「バー」って感じです。＾＾

this is kai trying to do "shhhhhh" but somehow the finger goes on the nose rather than on the mouth. ;)

これはカイの「シーッ！」、何故か指は口の上ではなく鼻の上にいってしまう... ＾＾：

he's been showing an interest towards cameras and he just wants to take pictures all the time! he doesn't quite know how to hold the camera properly...even tho i teach him how, he quickly puts fingers back on lens. lol

カイは最近カメラに興味津々！もうカメラをもって撮ってみたくてしょうがない！だからコンデジを貸してあげました。＾＾カメラの持ち方を教えてあげてもすぐ指がレンズの所にいってしまって...　＾＾；

i just noticed that kai and i are kinda matching today wearing grey stripped shirt!

見ての通り、写真はカイの指だらけでした。（笑）
今見て気づいたら私とカイは今日ふたりでグレーのストライプのトップでお揃いだった！＾＾

＊　まるさん, ninocafeさん、私もやってみました！でもカイもまだまだ、まずカメラの持ち方からの修行が必要みたいです。＾＾

kai LOVES to go through my make-up box and he is constantly trying to get in there. so today, i let him do whatever he wants to do and see what he does! looks like his first step is to curl the eyelashes...

カイはいつも洗面所にあるメイクで遊ぼうとして大変！＾＾；　でも今日は試しになんでも好きな事をやらせてみました。まずはビューラーでまつげカールからみたいです。笑

in the end, he was shocked to see what he looks like in a mirror (or maybe because i was laughing so hard) that he started crying! but it's just so amazing that he knows what to do with each of the make-up! i guess he is really really watching me ;)

あれこれといたずらをやって、最後は自分の顔を鏡の中で見てショックを受けたのか　（それとも私が横でカメラを抱えながらケラケラと笑っていたのがいけないのか）よく分からないけど、大泣きでした！でもよくやる事が分かっているなぁ〜と感心。やっぱり毎日かなり観察されてるー！！！

he has been climbing all over the house like a out of control monkey! dining room table, computer table, bathroom sink, his high chair, you name it! so of course he loves to climb and ride his elephant too :)

最近カイはもうワイルドモンキー状態で家中どこでも登っちゃいます。ダイニングのテーブルはもちろん毎日の事、オフィスのテーブル、洗面所、ハイチェアーなど...大変です。　(*´Д｀)=3ハァ･･･ だからもちろんこのゾウさんに乗って遊ぶのも大好きです。

toys out, kai in... i just cleaned up all the toys and this is 2 seconds later :P here we go again!

気がつけばおもちゃと海が入れ代わり？！？　さっき片付けたばっかりなのに、もうこれ！！！　(*´д`)ﾔﾀﾞｧ!!!

meet lexi. she is a 12 weeks old blue nose pit bull puppy that trisha + greg got this weekend. so we had to go meet her for the first time and play with her :)

先週末に友達のトリシャとグレッグが４ヶ月のアメリカンピットブルテリアーの犬を買ったので、会いに行ってきました。

she is gonna be a big puppy, maybe about 100 lbs when she is full grown.

どうやら成犬になると体重が４５kgぐらいになるみたいでおまけにちょっと顔つきも怖っぽい...かなりのガードドッグになりそうです。

they are buddies instantly!

すぐ二人は仲良く遊んでいました。にらめっこ中　＾＾

i like how kai thinks he is "training" lexi to do "down." i guess he watches me do that to our dogs :D

カイがレキシーに「ダウン」を教えているつもり！あの指がなんともいえずに笑えちゃう！＾＾
どうやら私が家で犬にそうやっているのを見ているようです。かなり観察されているみたい...

小さな花は結構長く持ち歩いていました。

その後は木からとった葉っぱ。

at the end, he sat down and watched some birds flying around. it was nice but turned out to be a very long walk :P

最後は座りながら周りにいた鳥などを見ていました。カイの探検のおかげでこの日はかなり長い散歩になっちゃいました。

when we go on a walk, kai finds lots of things around him. looks like he found something on the side walk...

いつもこんな感じで散歩しています。カイはどこでも走りまくり、カイを一生懸命追いかけようとする犬たち...いつもひっぱられてばっかりで大変です。＾＾；

this was awesome! i asked him to jump and he did it! super cool :)
i took way too many pictures on this walk so it's gonna cont. tomorrow...

「ジャンプして！」と言ってみたら本当にしてくれました。ちょっとビックリ！　でもその瞬間が撮れてラッキー。（＾＾）V

he's becoming a "big boy" these days and been wanting to do everything by himself lately. one of the biggest thing he really wants to do is feeding himself. he refused to be fed this morning by one of us so we decided to let him do his own thing with the vanilla yogurt. he is doing "thumbs up," guess he approves :)

最近なんでも自分でやりたがっているカイ。その中でも一番やりたがるのが自分で食べる事。今朝、ダニエルがスプーンでヨーグルトをあげようとしても「ノー！　ノー！」と首を横にふって全然食べません。しょうがないのでバニラヨーグルトを自分で食べさせてみました。たまたま左指「サムズ　アップ」をしているのでおいしいのかな？＾＾

actually he is really good at feeding himself but what a mess!!! i think half of the yogurt went into the bib and the face rather than his mouth :P

最近やっぱりだんだん自分で食べる事が上手になってきています...が半分以上はよだれかけの中と顔についていたと思います。もう白いヒゲのおじさん状態です。＾＾；

cleaning him up after the breakfast was such a chore! the yogurt went everywhere!

おーい！食べてる時にどこみてる！？！　食べ終わった時のクリーンアップはちょっと大変でした。もうヨーグルトがいろんなところにべちゃべちゃ！ ＾＾；

日曜日のお昼ね時間。

i let him ride on the "riding toy machine" that takes coins or tokens for the first time. he LOVED it and wouldn't want to get off at all! he made a quite a big crying scene there when he had to get off... i just created a monster :P

昨日、はじめて子供用の宇宙船に乗せてあげたら、予想以上にすごーく気にいってしまわれて... はっきり言っておろすのに大変でした。ギャーギャー泣かれて、「もっと、もっと」と言われて...　どうやら新しいモンスターを作ってしまったみたいです。ヤバー　＾＾；

we were saying "bye bye" to kai after we loaded everything in the car from the shopping cart... he looks confused ;)

全部荷物を車につめ終わった後、カイをカートに残したまま「バイバーイ」と言って車の方向に歩きだしてみました。ちょっと不安そうな顔してます。(￣∇￣）

最近、なぜかイチゴをこうやって食べてます。西部劇みたいに鉄砲をもっているようにみえるので、名付けて、ワイルド　ウェスト　ショーダウン、カイ　vs. イチゴ！　(*^▽^*)　

yup, he is already 20 months now!

kai always plays with daniel's hat so i finally bought him one in his size a little while ago. he tries to wear it every time daniel's wears the hat but he usually takes it off after few seconds. or he "hides" like this...

カイはいつもダニエルの帽子をかぶりたがるのでこの前子供用の帽子を買ってあげました。ダニエルが帽子をかぶる時はまねをして自分の帽子をかぶるのですが、すぐ脱いでしまいます。それともなければ...

kai loves the shopping cart, especially being in it rather than sitting in a child seat.

woke up from his nap time! it was hot enough that i let him sleep nake-y today ;)

お昼ねから起きたカイ。今日は少し暑かったのでオムツ一枚で昼寝させてみました。

think he is still a little dozed here...

still likes to brush teeth everyday, actually he gets excited about it, such an interesting child!

相変わらず毎日歯を磨くのが好きなカイ。はしゃいで自分から洗面所にいってくれます。そんなに面白いかなぁ〜？

we went to the playdate at the park before noon. he was having a little break with the juice in a shade.

プレイデートの日なので公園に遊びに行ってきました。今日はいつもよりかは暑くなかったので（３０度位）助かりました。ちょっと遊んだ後、日陰でジュースを飲みながらのブレイクタイム！

went to super franks (indoor kid's fun center) and kai had lots of fun as we expected. there's so many toys and big slides to play with but he decided to push and ride the car around most of the time (same thing that he does at home!!!). another thing he got really got into were these ducks...

最近真夏の温度になってきたのでインドアの子供の遊び場、スーパーフランク（４時間セッション＄７ドル、大人はフリー）に行ってきました。いろいろと遊ぶ物や滑り台などたくさんあるのに、カイのやる事はいつも家でやっている事と同じ...もぅーせっかく来たのに！でもそれ以外に一番真剣にやっていた事は...

ducks that goes around in circles forever! he would just watch them and put the ducks on and off, on and off...

このアヒルのおもちゃ！ただアヒルが電動で池の周りを回るという単純な物。すごく気に入ったみたいで結構長くこのテーブルに座ったり、車を押しては戻ってきてまたアヒルと遊んでました。

i think this duck is crying for help and wants to be rescued ;D

なんかこのアヒルに助けを求められているよーな気が...　＾＾；

kai has star wars mr. potato head toys (darth vader + storm trooper) and he got hold of the "tongue" and put it in his own mouth. sorry about the blurry picture but it made me laugh so i had to post it :P

おもちゃであっかんべー。
ちょっとピンぼけしているけど笑わせてくれたので載せてみました。

when i noticed it was too late... kai already went into the water and enjoyed himself before i changed him in his swim shorts :P oh well, at least he had fun right? he went home naked, just a towel wrapped around him in the car seat and took a bath when he got home!

this big fountain came on just then and he was surprised by that and was running away, silly boy!

kai was playing with grandpa's reading glasses. he looks like a "professor" and looks so silly :) i bet everything was so blurry when he put them on! if you happen to watch jon + kate plus 8 on tlc, he kinda looks like aiden, doesn't he? ;)

kai definitely have few tantrums through out the day...and this was one of them. he gets easily frustrated when he can't do stuff in his way or when he can't reach or get stuff.

this was in the middle of it, he kinda sat down and crying to see how i react or something (he totally test me all the time!). maybe he got mad 'cuz i kept taking his cute crying face? i dunno... ;)

but he was all better like few min. later :) he sat down on my lap, looking at his silly crying faces on the camera together and he was smiling :)

went to park so that kai can play with his friends :) it was a nice day but was pretty windy!

don't give me the sad face... :(

kai is a year and half already! time really flies when you have a child...really! he is starting to have attitudes + tantrums and we are starting on "time outs" now. i can totally see that "terrible two" is coming ;)

he hates hat ever since he was a little baby but he has been starting to show a little interest now. i think it's because daniel wears hat a lot so maybe he wants be like his daddy? maybe time for me to get him a hat in his size (rather than daniel's) and try it out!

we went to potluck + playdate today in the neighborhood where we closed off one of the cul-de-sac so the kids can play freely with bikes, scooter, and such.

he was interested in bikes/tricycles but he really like pushing around someone's stroller?!?

this was the one tricycle he pushed around for a bit.

he was having a "moment" with this little girl...girlfriend already??? but i don't even know her name! LOL

he loves his play house ever since he got it for xmas. we put it downstairs but thing big play house totally took over half of our dining room space... :( he watches tv from his house like here (he is lifting himself up on the door so he is not that tall) or he likes to hide in there to do his "diaper business." either way, he is a silly child! ;)

not sure what's his obsession with brushing teeth (but it's a good thing!) but he LOVES to brush them. he voluntarily climbs up on a counter and ask for his tooth brush and tooth paste!?! sometime he even cries or have crazy tantrum over NOT giving him tooth brush. is he a silly toddler or what???

he totally get the "order" right too. turn the water on...

this is the "other end" of him ;) he toes are like ballerina, trying to reach so hard! of course, i just changed his diaper and ran away from me right before putting his pants on and he decided to brush his teeth! and for me, instead of putting his pants on, i decided to grabbed my camera and take pictures, ha ha ha ;)

we took a little adventure to the park today in the early evening. this park is the closest to our house which is only 2 blocks away so we decided to walk together rather than taking a stroller. i only planned to go there for like 30 min. but somehow it turned out to be this 2 hr long thing!?! there were so many kids playing and kai getting distracted constantly made it that long...

kai just goes running/walking to the park by himself...but he does stop and turn around sometimes to see where i am, being a good boy! :)

on the way home from the park, was about 7:30 pm or so, sun is going down!

this was one of the many distractions he encountered on the way home...finding a stick in the field and playing with it. now, remember, this park is only 2 blocks away from the house but took like 25 min. to get home when it should only take maybe 5 min. walk!

kai took his first bubble bath ever! he wasn't sure what they were, so he cried for the first few minutes but after that, he enjoyed himself playing with bubbles :)

the stuff on the background is his shape bath toy from boon. we really love their cute and modern products, we also have frog pod, flo (which i used to do the bubble bath tonight), water bugs, flair, and most of feeding accessories, i recommend them all!

when i first starting the bubble bath...kai's expression is silly, i think...like "what???"

this is when he was calming down on crying...looks so pathetic.

thought i'll document what he does to the house everyday (by trashing the house, that is) and what he plays with lately. he is into putting books on the couch side way to make them "stand." very interesting...or he would throw them across the room, so i prefer him doing this quietly ;)

he loves his little cart! everyday, he puts different things in there to cart around downstairs and today's pick were...a book, yo gabba gabba characters (muno and plex to be exact), yoshi, and some cups. ha ha ha.

he drags and rides this orange magis puppy around the house...and the puppy's been mostly in a "dead" position lately. poor thing :P kai is also have been trying to ride tricycle as well, definitely gets the idea but can't quiet get it going 'cuz he is still a bit too short to reach.

where was kai? well, he was napping in his bed cuddling snoopy today ;)

see! this is what i'm talking about, such a trouble maker!!! he discovered how to get on top of the master bath sink a day before yesterday and loves going thru my make-up, play with the water, and voluntarily brushes his teeth (such an odd kid!). now i need to put a gate up so that he can't go in there anymore!

you can see "trouble!!!" in his eyes, right? he is definitely crazy these days...i really think that "trouble" should've been his middle name... kai has been really active and getting into things like there's no tomorrow!!! makes me wanna scream like crazy in the house too ;)

deedee gets this look when she is asking me for "help," poor thing, she gets beaten by kai on a regular basis but i swear they have a love + hate relationship! she hates getting beaten up by kai (of course!) but when kai is taking a nap, she's usually laying next to him and when he cries, she runs next to kai right a way! it's very cute to see that and i guess that's her way of "baby sitting" kai...

finally got one of those bike trailer yesterday so we can go on a family bike ride! i didn't really think how much heavier it is to tow like extra 30lbs... my thighs are feeling it already ;0 i'm out of shape anyways, need to build some good lean muscles!!

he is such an escape artist lately! i tried to hold his hand but he doesn't want to and just takes off on his own...

so off to the park by himself.

today is a national kite day! so to celebrate, we had a picnic and kite flying event at the park with the mother's club. obviously, kai is little too young to get what's going on but he wanted to watch and hold the kite (that we borrowed from his friend).

his attention span on flying kite was super short, he was only interested in for about 5 min. and he was playing with other kids. and of course time like this, our windy town wasn't so windy at the time! so the kite was coming down constantly!

kai trying to keep up with the "bigger" kids. he happens to be one of the younger toddler in the group except less than 1 year old babies. i think he is doing good and learning a lot of good things and bad things from them ;)

i've been trying to take kai to the park everyday so that maybe he can make new friends and get him really tired to crash as soon as we get home ;) this park has lots of these giant palm trees and they are nice since they give us shady area to sit while watching kai :) today was really nice weather at the park, about 80F (26C), kinda hot in the sun but it's nice and cool in the shade because humidity is about 25% here and pretty windy.

he is getting a hang on riding this thing pretty well.

full of expressions again today! he is getting good at doing the peek-a-boo (or いない いない ばー) by himself. sometimes he surprises and cracks me up by doing that out of nowhere!?!? he is definitely a silly one!

when ka is in a good mood and wants to play, deedee is his easy target and she gets attacked (or probably "tortured" is more appropriate) by kai very often. this is right before that was about to happen...see how he is "eyeing" on her!

...and attacked! i'm just glad she is good with kai and being a good sport about it!

kai's grandma got him a pair shoes from see kai run. what a great brand name ;) these shoes are super soft and flexible (i guess they are handcrafted from soft sheepskin leather) but very well made at the same time. i like the "K" design on the side and chocolate brown + light grey colors are always plus! i bet they would look good with jeans! thanks grandma!

even the shoe box is cute too, or am i just so biased by the brand name?!?! ;)

kai's having some fever the last few days like 100 F to 102 F (37.5 C to 38.9 C). i was thinking of taking him to the doctor but he seems to be doing well and his fever went down significantly today. he just has fever, no other stuff like vomiting or diarrhea etc. i'm thinking maybe he has like 4 teeth coming in on the top??? i'm still taking his temperature to make sure he doesn't have fever every 4 hrs or so. poor guy, sleep a lot and hope it all goes away soon!

i finally got a tricycle for kai. i've been researching for one for about a month or two now. as far as the brand goes, it was pretty much gonna be radio flyer or kettler for me (because of the reviews i've been reading). in the end, i decided to go with this classic flyer by kettler, it comes with a push bar and for a kettler trike, this was a really good deal (compare to those average $200 trikes and i only wanted to spend around $50)! it's a little more cream in color than i like (or it looked more white online) but i suppose i can deal with it. i guess i can't be 'that' picky all the time unless i'm willing to pay more money, right?

anyways, kai gets the idea of riding the trike but he can't quite reach the pedal with his feet when the pedals are at the bottom :P so for now, he pushes it around the house or try to ride it and just push the trike with his feet on the ground. more trike pics to come in the future!

Radio Flyer Ultimate Canopy Steer & Stroll Trike $98.90: great review and seems really good but i think it was getting a little $$$ for radio flyer trike and was not really sure or like about that primary colors of the trike.

Radio Flyer Classic Red Tricycle with Push Handle $51.25: great price, good reviews, and love the classic color (will be good for boys or girls for the second baby in the future?!?!) but wasn't sure if i really wanted that "classic" one as far as material goes...but this was the runner up for me!

Radio Flyer Retro Grow N Go Bike $44.99: great price and looks good, like more of the "bike" look and awesome that you can adjust the length of the trike as they grow. but when i actually went to see this thing at toysru, it didn't look so safe cuz the seat was really small, the back "bike" tire doesn't touch the ground, was strictly for the look. so those 2 small back tires didn't seem to support well when they are turning.

Kettler

Kettler Kettrike Air Happy Tricycle or Kettler Kettrike Happy Navigator Tricycle $200: love these ones and awesome reviews but the price is waaaay too much! and i'm not too fan of the primary colors again but they are not as bad as radio flyer.

Kettler Kettrike Oceana Tricycle $95.86: love the color! a lot better price than the other kettler trikes but it's kinda spendy...

Kettler Go-Green Trike $70: love the fact that this trike is made from recycled materials and so it's a "green" product. like the colors and nice that it folds up and good review but no push bar included.

after looking at these over and over again on amazon.com and toysrus.com, this one i bought seemed like the best deal with push bar for kettler and i didn't mind the color! i know it only has one review and it's only 3 star but it's a exactly the same model as the Go-Green Trike which got really good reviews on amazon and toysrus so i thought that was okay.

he was "working" hard today on the couch! he is 16 months old and already using computer. lol. i was just amazed to see how he knew to put the computer on his lap and push on keyboards. i guess it runs in the family ;)

he got frustrated so he decided to step on it. ha ha.

he has been more and more trouble lately...you can just see that in his eyes! ;) now he just climb on everything, really EVERYTHING like a crazy monkey! computer desk, coffee table, bar stools, you name it! he is a master of climbing things but sometimes he hasn't figured out how to get off things or sense of distance. he cries and whines when he feet are like 2 inches from the ground, so silly!

this is something i see it daily...kai dragging deedee by her collar. i guess he thinks he is "walking" her? i'm not sure. deedee is usually good and go along with it but i know she is thinking "oh geez, help me!" or "ありがた迷惑." poor deedee :(

i put the bunny ears right after he woke up in the morning, thinking that he is still half asleep and don't know what is going on, so that i can snap some "bunny"pictures. but he definitely wasn't too happy about me forcefully putting the bunny ears on this year. sorry! but don't you think it would be a great black mail picture when he grow up? ;)

LOVES to be chased but don't like wearing clothes part...so he runs around in diapers and there's me chasing after him with his clothes. he's usually giggling super hard as he runs around.

LOVES iphone...ohhhh yes, he already broke 2 of them by dropping on the ground (even with the hard case on) in the "right" way to disable the touch screen. luckily one of them was still under warranty so we didn't have to buy new one. so he is holding his (broken) iphone here.

LOVES to stick his finger in his belly button...he is an odd one, huh?

kai LOVES to play in the sand and he's been stealing other kids toys when he goes there, so i finally got him these little sand bucket and tool set from target the other day.

he is very serious when he is playing in the sand...i wonder what he is thinking.

sometimes, he decides to explore the park and takes off, leaving his toys behind.

i hear a lot of moms saying they write their name on sand toys with permanent marker but they all rub off pretty quickly. so, my solution was to put red ribbon (or i could've gotten him something cuter like stripes?) on all his toys with his name on it as a visual marker. we'll see how long this will last and work out!

it was a bit windy so sand went everywhere as well as his hair. lol

went to easter egg hunt in our neighborhood today. there were a lot of people already when we got there. i guess this year, they had like 5000 eggs for kids to hunt but seriously it took only like a minute or two from the start to the end.

kai managed to get like only 4 eggs in the toddler section (up to 4 yrs old). but compare to 1 yr old and 4 yr old, of course older kids get a lot more and some of the younger kids didn't get to hunt any... :P

we let him open eggs and he got some easter stickers and fruit snacks (glad it wasn't candy or chocolate) but he can't eat those fruit snacks yet (choking hazard, right?) so i guess me and daniel will be eating them for him ;) thanks kai!

we went to super franks (which is a indoor playing and learning center for kids under the age of 5) for the first time today. kai had lots of fun there and it was only $7 for him (or per child) to get in for 4 hrs (they have 4 hr morning, afternoon, and night sessions).

this plasma car was so cool and he loved it. some moms were riding it with their kids, so it tried it too. it was cool! maybe he'll get one for his birthday???

he was trying to put the ball in the basketball hoop. so cute that he doesn't know he is too short for it right now ;)

this is the sock monster that comes out everyday without fail in our closet. what a joy...we get to clean up everyday too and trust me, this is one of the good day, could be worse! lol.

belated happy st. patrick's day everyone! we went to st. patrick's potluck in our neighborhood in the early afternoon. we all had to wear some kind of green, so i got this green shirt for kai to wear.

i had to bring something "green" to share at the potluck, so i decided to make green bean casserole (with cheese). yes, i know that it doesn't look very "green" in this picture... :P

kai is 15 months old today. yes, he steals my chair as his "playing object" so i'm forced to do my computer on my knees sometimes...and surprisingly this was the only place he would sit next to snoopy nicely for the first time in months!

he loves banana sooo much! i've been buying this bonita organic banana for him for breakfast or snack time. daniel thought it was funny to put the banana sticker on his to play around today.

this face cracks me up! i guess he didn't like the sticker too much and mad at us ;)

of course, he loves to play with things that he is not supposed to play with! i do play ds before bed sometimes and i usually just put it under my pillow when i go to ged (if i put it on my night stand, that's like i'm telling him to get it!).

but lately, he found out that i stash my ds there and every time he finds it, he announces it by saying "oh uh." i guess he somehow knows to get the touch pen out and scratch the screens. i let him play with it a little today until he started to step on it, which only took him few minutes. so in the end, his ds play time was over within 5 minutes!

we went to playdate gathering thing today. kai seems to get a little shy around other kids his age and kinda plays by himself. but i'm sure that time will make all the difference!

after the playdate, we went to trader joe's and found awesome snacks for kai. i do usually give him real fruits but these freeze dried fruits (banana, strawberries, + mango) are great for on the go. and they are cheaper than the gerber ones, these trader joe's ones are about $2.69 each. i'm just happy to find them, yay :)

ok, i can't help but notice...why is the strawberry packaging label and barcode so much higher than the other two? it kinda bugs me that all 3 are not consistent! ha ha.

kai seems to be brave enough to tackle the stairs these days. he usually sits facing forward and scootch his butt to go down but when he comes to the last step, he likes to go down like a big boy!

he totally cracked me up when he did his "kaijyu (monster)" expression in the middle of going down the stairs!

kai, deedee (you see that black blob?), and i walked over to the neighborhood park today in the early afternoon. it was nice blue sky, warm weather, and we found out no one was there! so i let deedee off leash to the grass area and they were chasing each other around. kai had a really good nap today when we got home :)

happy valentine's day everyone! kai got a pink do-mo kun for his valentine's gift. looks like we have 2 do-mo kun in the house =)

kai is 14 mo. old today. wow, time flies! he doesn't sit still ever now and just constantly on-the-go. he's becoming a quite trouble maker these days... as you can see, he tries to strangle snoopy to death, climb on the computer chair and bang on keyboard and mouse (this is a shot of him getting busted!).

this is another thing, opening the door! he's been doing it for about a month now but he is definitely becoming a pro at it. he does the little tippy toe thing to reach and moves the handle few times and opens it! i don't think there's any child proof for this kind of door knob, right? does anyone have this problem?

ok, so kai's always been a fan of playing with the keyboard but lately he's been interested in playing with the mouse (he is expose-ing the screen and stuff! if you have mac, you know what i'm talking about, right?). he loves it so much that he took a nap with one! i guess he does have the "designer blood" in him :)

just got this babybjorn potty chair yesterday so that we can start potty training kai. now i really have to watch him when he is doing "his business" and take him to the chair. i just let him sit there today to see, seemed like he likes the chair, so that's a good start! we'll see how this goes...

ooohhh yes, i'm aware that he has mismatched socks today ;) he's been going thru his "socks off!" stage (especially he likes to take off the left one), randomly taking the socks off everywhere in the house! they could be found in my bed with blankets, deedee's bed or in my closet, you name it! so it's been hard to find the pair lately... does anyone else have this problem? does it get worse?

he really wanted to take a shower this morning (he was whining for it!), so daniel gave him a shower (not bath, he doesn't like bath, odd right?). he always look so cute when he gets out of the shower in his hooded towel so i finally got around to take few pictures.

he hates any type of hats and hoodies so of course, he was trying to take it off!

got this flexible tunnel thing that he can crawl in and out at ikea. he seems to have fun but not too sure about it sometimes. when we first got it, i showed him "how" but i couldn't go thru smoothly, got stuck here and there. i guess i'm too big + fat for this tunnel, ha ha. ;)

kai and i have been sick the last few days. kai sounds worth than i am. he got major runny but stuffy nose and bad cough. but i think it's getting better and he was kind of "smiley" today (of course it was after he took his medicine). i hope he will be completely better by end of this week!

this actually happened few weeks ago and i totally forgot about it...

story was that i was on my computer as usual and i didn't hear kai playing or babbling in the background for a few minutes (you know, that means he is doing something that he is not supposed to do when he is dead quiet!). so i decide to look for him and i just turned around, there he was, passed out on a blanket on the floor at the foot of the bed!?!? so funny, totally cracked me up! he maybe got the idea of doing that from watching deedee?

happy new year everyone! how is your new year so far?

we went over to trisha + greg's house for a new year's get together. kai had the "happy new year" head band and played with absolute vodka disco ball case all night. he was up late enough to welcome the new year with us for the first time (last year, he was snoring away since he was only few weeks old).

maybe he's gonna like vodka in the future ;)

walked over to the park with the whole fam on sunday. surprisingly it was nice weather (about 55 F/13 C) and daniel haven't been to this park so we decided to go with the basketball. i think we see a future basketball star!

the ball is as big as his torso but he was having fun carrying it around the court.

he even grabbed the ball on the swing too. such a funny baby!

hope you guys had very merry xmas this year! kai sure did have a good one. of course he got the most presents from friends + families. he ripped some wrapping paper out and moving presents around on the floor, took forever to open all his presents but i think he was having a blast! on the other hand, he wasn't very ok with the moose head band thing i put on his head...he immediately took it off every time i put it on his head :P

ohhh yes, he had this "crazy professor" hair today. i tried to fix it but didn't do much...

we've been kinda teaching him to do this hand gesture when he is done eating or when the food is all gone. this morning, i showed him the empty baby yogurt container that he just ate and he did "all gone." it's so cute when he does that :)

we totally forgot to take pictures with snoopy, so this is actually a day after his birthday. as i mentioned before, he does not sit with snoopy anymore so just took pics with him playing with snoopy.

went to the city with trisha on sunday and we did lots of shopping. one of the thing i really wanted to do was to have kai take his first pic with santa, so we did it. he was okay in the beginning but he started crying after a bit and sliding off of santa's lap. he definitely does look very unsure about this whole thing... oh well, i'll do better next year!

some xmas light decorations in the city. it was so pretty. that tree was so huuuuuge inside of neiman marcus, about 4 floor height. the little kitten was in one of the display in the macy's windows, they decorated each as a little "house" and had kitten on each. most of them were sleeping but some were playing, they were so cute.

went to another neighborhood park, this one is about 10 min. walk from our house and it was our first time going there. the other, bigger park don't have the baby swings so i was so happy to find the baby swings here (thanks to michelle + mike for telling us). another good thing was that this park is pretty empty because it's located in the newly developed area (maybe there's only 20 houses around), so we'll be coming here a lot now! anyhoo, i accidentally over exposed this photo when i was taking pictures but i kinda like it, it's kinda fun, no?

kai's 1 yr old birthday party is getting closer and closer (less than a month now). i've decided to make lots of cupcakes for his b-day cake, and if it's cupcakes, you know you have to get sprinkles cupcakes, right? obviously it'll be cheaper to make them on my own, so i took a little trip to william-sonoma and bought some mixes (they were on sale too!). now only thing i have to do is actually make them right before the party!

oh yes, it is kai's 11 mo. old today. forget about him trying to sit with snoopy on the couch, it is officially impossible to do!

since he started walking around 9.5 months, now he drag snoopy by his ear and terrorize him. deedee looks pretty surprised in the side of the pic there, cracks me up! ha ha ha.

after standing in line with kai for the 1.5 hrs for the gap casting call photo shoot at the mall, these are 2 of them that i like out of 4 that they took. i guess i'm a little disappointed on the pictures but i guess that's ok. maybe i'll try to take pictures kinda like this on my own this weekend. but i was gonna ask you guys if i were to pick one, which one would you pick to enter it to the contest?

finally painted + decorated kai's bathroom this week. it's light turquoise/mint kinda color with yellow color pop! this paint is actually called garden gazebo by glidden (really, i would think "tan" when i hear that name of the paint, is that just me? i wonder how they name these things...) i wasn't too sure about the color but after serious thinking, i decided to keep it and think worked out pretty good (especially with that color of shower curtain). i'm thinking about putting a little white shelf above the toilet to put candles and such. well i'll keep you posted on that one ;)

he has been very curious about things and started checking out under neath things. he loves to see what's under neath the couch. i think he actually found his own toy before but he can probably find deedee's toy, dust bunny (maybe if i'm lazy about swiffer-ing), or boogie man? lol

my friend vanessa took this picture and sent it to me. who would've thought that kai is already a business man at such a young age! ha ha. we need to go eat at this place and see how good it is (i guess it's in old oakland).

walked over to our neighborhood park again so kai can play in the water. he wasn't scared today and did so well. he was just crawling around everywhere (luckily wasn't very many older kids around then) and checking out the water fountains. so glad that he is ok with the water now!

happy 9 month b-day to kai! it is sure getting so hard to keep him still on the couch. now he doesn't only want to wrestle the snoopy, he wants to drop him off the couch too. since it was on sat., daniel helped me with this photo session but it was hard with two of us. i don't know what i'm gonna do when i have to do it alone in a future.

kai went to 9 months check-up appt. yesterday and he was 19.12 lbs (40 percentile) and 28.5 inch (55 percentile). i was surprised to hear that he wasn't one of the "bigger" boy now compare to before. he is slowing down on growing ?!?!

kai has found new toys around office lately... one of them is a printer, he likes to constantly "jam" his hands in it. another one is the external hard drive case (it broke so we gave him the empty case, remember when we bought this hard drive, we took a pic with him and he was sooo small and monkey like? i'll put that pic on cont. reading), apparently he wants to fix with his purple toy wrench ;)

can't believe that hard drive is a size of his torso back then...and he looks so different now.

every time he is on the couch, he pulls himself up on the back of the couch and just check out the backyard. there's nothing to see really, just dirt and cucumbers :) some day, we'll have trees, lawn, and patio area...

like teething with this "bath time" toy. i guess it has the perfect texture to make him wanna eat.

i gave him a few bites (or licks, should i say?) of the fudgesicle and this is what happened. he definitely loved it and he just looks so silly :P

then, he passes all his toys to go play with something that he is not suppose to play with, like a chair. oh great!

kai has been crawling better and faster these days. and we found out that he loves cell phones as well. he is already showing interest on geeky-techie stuff and definitely taking daniel's foot stpes :)

since he's been mastering his standing up move, this is what i see when i hear him crying and go to his room in the morning or end of nap time.

kai is 8 months old today. i swear, time flies!! apparently at 8 months old, he just want to wrestle with the snoopy rather than sit next to and look cute.

went to aquatic park today with a friend and her daughter katelyn (she is 22 months old). it was kai's first time going to a pool and he didn't do so well but on the other hand, katelyn was loving it! kai was just crying, whining, and especially clingy (he had that face expressions the whole time!) but he did get used to the water a bit after 15 min. of being in there. i think i have to take him more often and get used to the water so that he can learn to swim in the future!

a little penguin is in the house!! this is actually a halloween costume that i bought for kai last year. i just thought about it today and decided to put it on him to see if it'll still fit him in 2 months. the answer is, no. he fits it in perfectly now and no way he'll be able to wear it on halloween (besides that we'll be in japan for halloween this year). so this is his halloween picture, therefore, happy early halloween from kai everyone!

p.s. sorry for bad pics today...my computer is acting wired and not making it pretty for some reason.

i was on my computer as usual, and when i looked back, omg!!! he was standing up, supporting himself in his playpen. i had to get the camera quickly so here it is, kai has a crazy expressions but at least i got the moment ;)

he has been practicing to crawl all the time and he is getting better at it.

he's been working on feeding himself lately. sometimes he does it just right, sometimes he doesn't quite get it so he gets frustrated cry about it. well at least he is trying and growing...

remember, about a month ago i was looking for a nursery poster? well we decided to go with the isak bird poster series and here they are!! the size of these frames are 20.5"W x 28.25" so they are kinda big and taking over the whole wall space but that's ok ;)

since kai is somewhat crawling now, we had to get the play yard gate thing. he doesn't seem to mind that he is "captured" in the cage... it totally gives me a piece of mind when i'm cooking or cleaning.

when i went to check on him when he was napping this afternoon, this is what i saw. i thought it was super funny, a little chubby hand dangling from the crib... ^_^

kai got a gift in the mail from his great grandma in japan. two baby blue bibs for his uncontrollable drooling with danish embroidery (she's actually teaches danish embroidery and has exhibits in japan). i think they are very cute.

he is 7 months old now! he can definitely sit and play by himself longer. on the other hand, he started to have a little bit of stranger + separation anxiety. he loves the tag/label on things, right here he is totally checking out snoopy's butt for the tag but he does that to blankets or toys too.

kai's been teething a lot and just eating everything he can find around him. i finally took a picture of his two bottom teeth! i've been trying to take pictures of them but it's been a struggle to take a good one. so the perfect opportunity happen to be when he was wailing his head off, sad.. but at least i documented his first two teeth, right?

daniel's hand looks pretty wrinkly compared to kai's chubby cute hand :)

he is about to crawl... he gets in the position and rocks back and forth. he hasn't actually taken a first step yet but i know it is coming pretty soon.

kai got "wish come true" series toys few days ago made by Strangeco and designed by aka FriendsWithYou! These figures have weighted bottoms and built-in bell chimes, so they have playful rocking motion and a subtle, soothing sound. He seems to love them and obviously very appetizing to him ;) i love the character designs, i think they are super cute. if you want, you can check more info here.

we got him a new high chair toy. this toy is so awesome, it has a suction cup at the bottom. so, i don't have to play the "pick up what kai drops every few senconds" game at all! it's there to stay ;)

he is getting so much better at bath time. he doesn't hardly scream or cry anymore. now that he has a little bottom tooth coming in, he just wants to chew on everything. so i think he is actually too distracted by these colorful toys and forgetting to cry?!?!

kai is now 6 months old! he can sit up pretty well now for a while. he is 28" long (91st percentile) and 18 lbs (73rd percentile). god, he is really tall but that just tells you that he is our child for sure ;)

not to mention he loves walking around in his car, he's been "parking" in front the tv for the front row seating! i know it's bad and i've been trying not to let him watch tv but it is kinda funny ;)

he took a nap like this for a few hours. if i sleep like that i would totally have a sore neck for few days! he must be very flexible...

he didn't fight with me to put him in a car seat today. he was pretty calm and happy at the moment.

kai has been practicing on holding bottle on his own. he is getting there but not quite all the way there... he is looking very serious there.

he has been eating very well on his food. he can finish the one little container no problem!

he is super flexible and he thinks he has four hands! he likes to grab things with his feet and use them as hand. he can pretty much hold his bottle with his feet. amazing ^o^

kai's been a cry baby a lot lately. he is especially bad during bath time, he HATES IT for some reason. i don't get it, he was in a "water" for 9 months, why doesn't he like it? the best part is that his voice echoes real well in there, yes, how lovely! i need a pair of ear plug! i wish kai came with a magic "mute" button for me to push when i get fed up!!

when i went to the city with alexa + kate the other day, we went to kidrobot store on haight street. i saw this super cute grey shirt for kai but i didn't buy it. when i showed it to daniel that night, he LOVED it! now we are ordering it online and when we are doing that, we saw this kid's red doma shirt for sale so we just had to buy it since daniel has one too. i swear, everything for kai...

i just got curious and counted how many dunnies we have... we have six 8" dunnies and sixty 3" dunnies (remember these are just dunnies...). i think it is getting out of control and needs to stop sometime before dunnies or vinyl toys take over our house!

after 11 hrs of very painful labor even with drugs and ended up having a c-section, our son was finally born! he was born at 6:14 am at washington hospital in fremont. 8 lbs 14 oz. and 21" long.
