we did go to ikea and it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be. yes, there were lots of people but i've seen worse. anyhoo, when we were walking back to the car, we noticed that there was fire bell going on in the parking garage and found out that some stupid person tried to drive the u-haul truck into the garage, ripped the sprinkler, and got it stuck! the ground was all wet from the sprinkler, 3 fire trucks, and lots of fire fighters around. i just had to take some pictures cuz that's a really stupid accident, i mean those max clearance bars are there for a reason?!?! hope this person bought the u-haul insurance to cover the damages!

i just got a new ikea catalog in the mail yesterday. what a perfect timing 'cuz we are thinking about making a trip to ikea this weekend with a friend (probably gonna be really crowded since it's the labor day weekend...oh well). now i get to research before hand so that i take less time to decided? well we'll see about that.

every time he is on the couch, he pulls himself up on the back of the couch and just check out the backyard. there's nothing to see really, just dirt and cucumbers :) some day, we'll have trees, lawn, and patio area...

like teething with this "bath time" toy. i guess it has the perfect texture to make him wanna eat.

after some bbq and get together, we always have lots of flies in the house and i was in need of buying a flyswatter! look what i found, this is super cool, a delete key shaped flyswatter, i'm sold! i've seen fred and friends products around shops etc. but i didn't know they have so much more products! these are some more stuff that i love and would totally buy :)

i picked 4 yummy cucumbers today and including that, i picked 30 cucumbers so far from our garden. they just get big so fast and ready to pick in like a week lately. we eat them in salads or dip them in hummus but we really can't keep up with the supply and demand :) so, does anyone want some homegrown, organic, japanese cucumbers? let me know!

i gave him a few bites (or licks, should i say?) of the fudgesicle and this is what happened. he definitely loved it and he just looks so silly :P

went on a bay cruise today for daniel's birthday event (it was a gift from daniel's mom). it departed from the pier 39, right next to the sea lion gathering place (was amazing to see how many of them are hanging out there, they were so cute especially the baby ones) and the cruise went on for about 1.5 hrs. it was definitely something different than our normal weekend activities! for next time, i wanna go check out alcatraz and wanna go walk on the island!

just more scenery...i just love that sea lion! totally wanted to take one home ;) ya, i know...i don't know what i would do with it at home with a sea lion...

i baked a cake for daniel's birthday this weekend and of course i used my mixer! this is the cheesecake i LOVE and my mom always baked this cake for my birthdays since i was about 9 yrs old or so. maybe this is the cake that i would make for kai's b-days in a future too?!?!

i've been wanting to make an iphone icon for my blog for a while and i finally did it! now any iphone users who (probably only my parents and daniel...) would like to add an my website to the home screen, it's there and easy to do! and i think it's just so cute :) it was super easy to make, you can find the instructions on how to make your own icon here. he explored the laundry room today. he LOVES the washing machine, apparently dirty clothes in a water is really amusing to a baby ;) also he noticed that there's some clothes and hangers hanging above him.

then, he passes all his toys to go play with something that he is not suppose to play with, like a chair. oh great!

with my neighbor michelle and jordynne, we went to the park to play in the fountain. kai had this "not very sure" face in the beginning but he got used to the water and actually had a blast by the end. kai met another kai who was 11 months old at the park. other kai was walking around on his own and had lots of teeth in his month but i think my kai was taller than him. crazy!

kai has been crawling better and faster these days. and we found out that he loves cell phones as well. he is already showing interest on geeky-techie stuff and definitely taking daniel's foot stpes :)

since he's been mastering his standing up move, this is what i see when i hear him crying and go to his room in the morning or end of nap time.

i finished painting our master bath room to pale grey the other day. i dunno why it looks kind of light lavender color when it's supposed to be light grey! i even picked paint that was diluted black (like 15% black color, the paint is called snowfield by glidden). does anyone know why that is? i even primed the wall before and i did 2 coats of paint. it's kind of frustrating but it's not a bad color...or more likely i don't have motivation to mask and paint again. well at least for now.

i'm sure many of you have the mixer already but i got mine today! yay!!! i was so excited so i made chocolate-peanut butter swirl chip cookies. they turned out yummy and not so sweet (because i cut the amount of sugar a little bit and used some brown sugar). i think i'll try to make something fun with the mixer once a week but we'll see how that goes. stay tuned!

kai is 8 months old today. i swear, time flies!! apparently at 8 months old, he just want to wrestle with the snoopy rather than sit next to and look cute.

haven't talked about the japanese cucumber lately but they are still growing like crazy! i'm still picking them and actually i picked 16 of them so far and look there's number 17 growing right now.

went to aquatic park today with a friend and her daughter katelyn (she is 22 months old). it was kai's first time going to a pool and he didn't do so well but on the other hand, katelyn was loving it! kai was just crying, whining, and especially clingy (he had that face expressions the whole time!) but he did get used to the water a bit after 15 min. of being in there. i think i have to take him more often and get used to the water so that he can learn to swim in the future!

i love the color of this flower, like royal blue/purple? i've seen white ones and light blue ones around the neighborhood but not this color. this was at kai's grandma's house.

went to visit kai's grandma this weekend and on the way home, we decided to go shopping in the city. golden gate was super foggy, we thought it was a wild fire and smoke coming out, but it ended up being a fog! totally crazy to see how fast fog was moving in such a massive amount!

i always wanted a red door for my front door but obviously i can't have a nice red door if the color of the house is orangy-brown (terra cotta color?). so i put that on the garage door! i love the pop of color in the garage (i used behr paint called california poppy), i think the door makes it a little festive too :)

a little penguin is in the house!! this is actually a halloween costume that i bought for kai last year. i just thought about it today and decided to put it on him to see if it'll still fit him in 2 months. the answer is, no. he fits it in perfectly now and no way he'll be able to wear it on halloween (besides that we'll be in japan for halloween this year). so this is his halloween picture, therefore, happy early halloween from kai everyone!

p.s. sorry for bad pics today...my computer is acting wired and not making it pretty for some reason.

i was on my computer as usual, and when i looked back, omg!!! he was standing up, supporting himself in his playpen. i had to get the camera quickly so here it is, kai has a crazy expressions but at least i got the moment ;)

meet chester, he is our neighbor, mike, michelle, and jordynne's puppie. i guess he is a chihuahua and dachshund mix. he is cute and very energetic and not to mention he is deedee's new boyfriend ^_^

this is what we worked on last weekend and this weekend (yes, it was hot and sweaty). here are the before and after pictures. we ended up painting the whole garage because it was super easy (just one coat of paint) and looked a lot better! then build a getabako (shoe shelf) and a step to the door so that we can take the shoes off. on the other side of garage, we used some chalk board paint for a fun play area for kai in the future.

he has been practicing to crawl all the time and he is getting better at it.
